What the Naturetale app does

Naturetale provides information on around 200 of the more widespread and visually distinctive flowers, and groups of similar flowers, that are likely to be seen on walks in the UK countryside. Between them these groups covers all but the rarest flowering plants and berries.

Most flowers and groups of flowers covered by Naturetale it use the fully out, healthy, complete and mature flower as the basis of identification. For a few species, immature flowers are included as well.

Naturetale covers species that are considered by biologists to be either native to the British Isles, or to have become naturalised over time. It does not cover species that botanists consider to be either escapes from domestic gardens or agricultural / horticultural use.

Naturetale Limited does not guarantee that the Naturetale app will enable users to successfully identify every flower they encounter in the UK countryside.

The inherent variability of how wild plants grow, how they look, and where they grow, plus the fact that some species are very similar, means that even trained botanists can struggle to identify some species. However Naturetale has been extensively tested in the field and will enable users to successfully identify flowers in the great majority of cases.

As with any innovative product, we anticipate that Naturetale will evolve over time, resulting in the issue of periodic upgrades. Existing users who provide Naturetale Limited with their contact details will be provided with the opportunity to download these upgrades for free.
